Contrary to popular belief the long coat Chihuahua require no grooming and trimming and they shed very little amount of hair. Sometimes it takes quite long time for the long coats to fully develop their hairs.

Although the Chihuahua breeders may name their litter under various sizes like pocket sized, tiny toy, and many other such names, it is simply a phoney marketing strategy. Chihuahua have no size variations, all the variation that occurs is completely natural and the amount of exercise that the dog gets.

One must be extremely careful while taking the decision of bringing home a Chihuahua puppy, the Chihuahua puppies are extremely fragile creatures and you can kill them or injure them just by sitting on them. The small structure of the Chihuahua means that the dog suffers from certain ailments and as the age progresses it may develop cardiac problems.

If you have children at home then it is better that you do not bring the Chihuahua home because, the Chihuahua are not good with kids and they have a biting tendency when they are afraid, making them untrustworthy companion to your child. Most owners often claim that their pet Chihuahuas often get very jealous of their master's other human relationships; this can be dealt with in due course of time by socializing the dog.
